#1 Way to Pick a Niche that Suits Your Passions

When working from home, it’s important to pick a niche that suits your passions. Working in any niche is a lot more challenging if you don’t like what you’re doing. But when you pick a niche you love, you love what you’re doing, so you wake up in the mornings with the energy and the enthusiasm you need to get right to work.

Take a few minutes and think about which niches might fit your passions best. If you’re not sure what your passions are, imagine you have a whole day to yourself. What do you spend it doing?

pick a niche from your passionsWould you spend it trying out new recipes? Exploring your city? Writing movie reviews? If you’re still having trouble trying to pick a niche, look at your existing hobbies. What is it you like doing most in your spare time? What is it you spend your money on?

When you take a moment to consider what you love doing, that will help you pick a niche that fits you best. It could even turn out you just discovered a niche you’re passionate about. What do you do about it?

Get reading and researching. Dig deep into your chosen niche. Sign up for every email newsletter in your niche you can. It really pays off to know all about the current issues and events in your niche.

Spend some time to browse websites relating to your niche.  It doesn’t matter whether they are experts or amateurs. You can learn from both. Blogs are another really great way to learn about what’s happening in the niche industry you plan to work in for your business. Look for blog directories for your category by going to a search engine and just typing in “blog directories.” From there, choose a blog directory and browse it by the categories you’re mosts interested in when you’re getting closer to pick a niche for your business.

By now, you probably have a list of potential niches just waiting for you to tap into. If so, it’s time to pare down that list. Work it down to your top three. These are your three main choices – the niches you have the most interest in. You will eventually pick your niche from these three – or perhaps start three online businesses at once. You can do that inexpensively online!

Don’t pick a niche simply by income level (although you should consider that, too). Don’t forget that when your niche really interests you, your customers catch your enthusiasm. When you’re only in it for the money, they can see that, too. So, pick a niche that will earn an income for you while bringing you personal satisfaction.

Once you decide which niche is right for you, take a minute and ask yourself a few important questions. “What’s not being covered by others working in this niche? Which audiences are being ignored? Who are the rising stars already in this niche and how are they changing it?” If you’re more passionate about these niches than your competition, you’ll be better at gaining customers that other entrepreneurs are missing.

So, what is your passion? What is it you wish you were doing right now – and getting paid for it? Maybe that’s what you should choose when you go to pick a niche that suits your passions. The thing you are most passionate about is the thing that you will be most likely to attract others to. When you attract others to what you are passionate about, it you are selling something or providing a service in that niche, they will be more likely to become your customers!

What is your passion? Have you thought of a niche? Have you already set up your business in your niche? Please tell us about it in the comments! Links are welcome.
